How to choose receiver dipswitch position
Set your safety remote control for an optimal use

RF timeout

Select 0.5sec or 2sec

Tx RF antenna

Select the port of your antenna

RF Range

Adapt the baud rate to optimise your situation

Auto OFF

Switch your TX off automatically

CANopen baud rate

Adjust the speed of the RX

Custom the behavior of your radio

By changing the dipswiches, you willl change the way your remote control works. Let's take a look on how just here below.

RF timeout

Select 0.5sec or 2sec. This adjusts the timing. A timeout is a period after which an operation is terminated if it has not been completed. Find a complete description here

Respect your risk analysis

Industrial remote control comes with risk analysis and norms. Depending on your application you might the right to change it, or not.

RF Range

Depending on your application and environnement, you might want to change the RF Range parameter. This parameter change the baud rate of the remote control.

Faster is the baurdate, faster is the transmission. If so, you will be able to add more remote control in the same area and have less interferences. You also we have shorter range. For example, you work in a factory and you use an overhead crane, you want to go fast as you are never far from the overhead crane.

Slowering the baud rate makes the time on air longer. So it's more likely to get interference with your transmitting RF frame. But if you work in forest industry with a winch, with nobody around, without RF noise, you could push the range with the maximum.

Be aware, if you have the max range, you should consider adjust the timeout to 2 sec. Indeed, remarks stays the same a above, you have to process your risk anaysis to ajust it accordingly.

Tx RF antenna

Choose the port for your antenna. We offer two options for antennas. The first is an onboard antenna, and the second is "MMCX" for a patch antenna (accessory "option e" for example).

We don't like to speak in term of range, as its a subjective way of measuring. But you will be surpised ! And all this with the feedback information. If the "transmit" functions, the feedback functions as well.

Auto OFF

Switch your TX off automatically. This is part of your risk analysis. You might want to switch off the TX as soon as possible when the person isn't working.

Imagine you leave the transmitter somehwere free to be handled by someone and enabled. You have the risk that this person take the remote and begin to do some movement. Considering this, you might want to switch off the TX as soon as possible when the person isn't working.

On the other hand, you may have a machine that works by itself for a long period of time. Here, you might not want to automatically switch off the transmitter.

Can baud rate

You can change the baud rate of the CAN open or even disable it.

As can baud rate are different depending on your machine, you can adjust it easily from 125k, 250k or 500k. Other baud rate are available but needs to be requested specifically.

When are all these options available?

You can see on the sticker of the remote. Most probably, the P/N finishes by a xxx.xxx.xxx.500.x.
For example : MFs.118.001.500.8. or RXps.111.01.1.501.8 both are finishing by 500 something. It means you can use the dipswitches as option above.

Both TX and RX must finish by 500 to be able to works porperly with the dipswitches.

Finally, once you adapt the dipswitches, the TX must learn the new value of the RX as all dipswitches are located into the RX. So you must "LEARN" the system again. Contact us to know more about how to learn a system together.

Conclusion

As E-Chronos worked a lot on its RF part, we did optimise our RF depending on where it is used.

The result is great, the budget link is if not the best, one of the best. As your machine and your environnement (steel, underground, an so on) are different for you type of machine, you might need to adjust some parameter to optimise your radio link. This is important as it will directly be link to the ease, smooth and safe operation of your end user.
